2009 Annual Appeal Final Report
The 2009 Annual Appeal raised the greatest amount of money
ever in a Senior Center fund drive. The Appeal which began on
June 28th with an evening of music and entertainment, "Elder
Voices Out Loud" which played to a full house at Mills Lawn
school, brought in $35,627. A second record was set by the
number of donors. There were 339 contributions many of them
representing families of 2 or more people. This is significantly
more than in previous years.
The "bonus book" available to donors who contributed $100 or
more is still available. Phone the Center to have one delivered
or stop by the Reception desk to pick up your copy of Irwin
Inman's "More Yellow Springs" filled with beautiful color photos
of the village.
Our guiding theme for this the 50th year, 1959-2009, was 50
Years of Community Service --50 years of Comunity Support.
The splendid community response to this fund drive certainly
verified this theme.
The Board of Trustees, the staff and of course our members,
rededicate ourselves to our part of the theme of "community
service" for the next 50 years.
The Annual Appeals Committe thanks all the people who helped
in this fund raising effort: All the performers in "Elder Voices Out
Loud and Proud", the greeters, the refreshment bakers, the
members who addressed the 888 1st class letters mailed in
July, the emergency workers who stamped and sealed the 2400
flyers mailed in early December, the staff who processed the
thank you letters and created the musical benefit programs that
benefitted the drive and our web master, Becky Eschliman, who
kept the Annual Appeal prominent on the YSSC web site.
Our special thanks to Ron Siemer, our public relations volunteer
and to Ed Dressler who created the totem-up pole for all the
village to see.
