Headquarters of Yellow Springs Senior Citizens, Inc., since 1959 the Yellow Springs Senior Citizens Center has focused on meeting the needs of people 55 and older in Yellow Springs and Miami Township. Located in its own building in the Yellow Springs business district, the Center is governed by a 9-member board of trustees, elected by the membership. A part-time director, a part-time financial assistant, and several part-time, grant-supported staff members provide services and manage and oversee programs. Volunteers give more than 3,800 hours of service per year in support of seniors in our community.
Visitors to the Center are quick to notice the diversity represented by our members. They soon perceive the attributes we have in common—our commitment to helping others, our desire to make a difference, the dedication with which we pursue our many interests and activities, our innovative spirit.

2008 Annual Appeal
The senior population of Yellow Springs and Miami Township continues to grow. Like older persons everywhere, we senior citizens want to stay in our own homes as long as possible, and many of us depend on community support to do so. The Yellow Springs Senior Center provides a multitude of services and activities to help seniors remain independent and engaged in the community. These include transportation to doctors’ offices, stores, and other essential destinations, exercise classes, insurance support programs, health and well-being screenings and seminars, senior services information, computer training, and many social events. The Center also offers a light housekeeping service at a reduced cost to the client. The Yellow Springs Senior Center also serves the broader community by making the Great Room available to other organizations for their events and referring volunteers to schools and other organizations.
Funding from the Greene County levy, income from an endowment, grants, and member dues partially support the work of the Yellow Springs Senior Center. But, as in past years, the Center also needs community support. Our Annual Appeal goal for 2008 is again $30,000, the amount needed to support services and activities. These funds will be used for operating the Senior Center, not for capital expenses for renovation or new facilities. We hope that the Yellow Springs community will demonstrate its care for its older residents by being as generous as it has in the past.
Your donation will be very much appreciated. No gift is too small. Yellow Springs Senior Citizens, Inc. is a nonprofit organization, so your contribution is tax deductible.
